Madrid Congress a huge success!

Over 140 people from 11 countries – from Austria to Australia – enjoyed a fantastic two-day congress in Madrid on 25 and 26 May, courtesy of Solidarios. This was our biggest congress to date. Delegates enjoyed a rich programme of presentations, workshops and time for all-important networking at the flamboyant Palacio Cibeles, Madrid’s impressive city hall.

New UK programme launched

Inter Generations Worcester was launched recently bringing the UK total to 23 programmes. The new programme is being run by the University of Worcester in association with Vestia Community Trust and Worcestershire County Council and is based on the model of Esdes InterGénérations, Lyon (www.esdes-intergenerations.net). To date, they have facilitated three matches and produced three short videos outlining the benefits of homesharing (www.vestia.org.uk/intergen/video.php).

Our Director, Elizabeth Mills spoke at the launch about homesharing around the world.

Homeshare on the BBC!

Homeshare has recently had some brilliant coverage on the BBC. A 20-minute radio programme on the BBC’s World Service did a very informative piece on the homeshare concept. It featured Typhaine de Penfentenyo of ensemble2générations and some of her successful matches as well as our Director, Elizabeth Mills. You can listen here: www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p04nmxv8#play

The story was then picked up in the BBC online magazine: One solution to two big social problems. See http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-38399246

The BBC’s World Service reached a global audience of 348 million people in 2016 – let’s hope many of them were tuned in!

Postscript – just as we posted this we heard that BBC Radio Manchester interviewed homesharers  matched by PossAbilities – see them on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/bbcradiomanchester/videos/10154483827909965/

They will be coming to the Madrid congress in May!

New film from Homeshare Vermont

As Homeshare Vermont started to think about outreach and marketing for different programs, they want to share an animation that they did recently and have used on Facebook and some openings for powerpoint presentations.  It was originally a radio advertisement with two homesharers and they liked it so much they decided to try and add animation so it had more uses than just audio.
