ensemble2generations celebrates!

Our warm congratulations go to ensemble2generations which recently celebrated its 10th anniversary. Typhaine and Alain de Penfentenyo, who founded e2g, held a church service and reception in Paris to mark the event. Homeshare International was represented by the Chair, Rhian Bradley, and the Hon Director, Elizabeth Mills.

ensemble2generations has gone from strength to strength in its 10 years. From its base in Paris it now has programmes in 15 French cities and has enabled over 6,000 students and older people to benefit from shared living.

To mark the occasion e2g has published a wonderful book called ensemble deux generations (available in English and French). It allows us a real insight into what homeshare is all about, with 20 case studies and stunning photographs. It’s an inspiration to read. This quote from 83 year-old Paule sums it up:   “I didn’t expect to find Alicia’s arrival so stimulating. She has made me aware that I had lost the habit of talking just for the pleasure of it. Sharing your home with a young person brings you back to the world, into the flow of things. It makes me feel younger!”.  Download the English edition of the e2g book here

Welcoming the new UK programmes

Homeshare International has welcomed the six new pilot programmes in the UK by formalising its offer to support agencies wanting to start a new programme. A press release has gone out to the UK media supported by an infographic which explains in simple terms what homeshare can offer.

The six new pilot programmes in the UK are funded by the Big Lottery Fund and the Lloyds Bank Foundation who are jointly putting £2 million into the project. This is the biggest boost to homeshare seen anywhere in the world as far as we are aware. Read more here.

A prize for 1Toit2Ages

Congratulations to our friends in Belgium, 1Toit2Âges, who have recently won a prestigious prize from the Minister for Housing, Madame Céline Frémault, “in order to develop homesharing in Brussels”. Claire de Kerautem, the Director, says that the prize money will enable them to start a big advertising campaign in Brussels: “We want more people to know about the programme and to contact us”.

Melbourne Congress – read the review!

The HANZA team, our hosts in Melbourne, have now issued a report on the event and you can read it here – Melbourne Congress Review Jan 2016.

The Melbourne Congress, held last November, was our most successful to date with over 100 delegates from eight countries sharing their news, views and experiences. The presentations are all on the Congress website which will still be available for a little longer.

Our photo shows the HANZA team (on the right) and the HI trustees at the reception held at the Victorian Parliament building.
