The first World Homeshare Congress will take place in Paris France from 3rd to 5th July 2009. Please see the attached flyer for details, and the pre-registration form to register your interest in attending.
The theme of the Congress is "Homeshare: tranforming the lives of people, communities and nations". This very special event will give all who are interested in homeshare the opportunity to learn more about this important means of providing low cost accommodation in exchange for help. Those who are already engaged in a homeshare programme, whether as a co-ordinator or participant, will get to meet others and exchange news and views. And Homeshare International will enjoy the privilege of meeting some of those the charity has helped over the years.

The conference area is approached from the cul-de-sac “Avenue Vavin” from Rue d’Assas (See map).
You will be given the access code to the right-hand door. The welcome desk will be reached as you enter the building. The main congress hall is down a short flight of stairs but there is a lift in case of need.
Transport
The College deN-D de Sion is close to a number of metro stations - Saint Placide and Vavin on Line 4 (Porte de Clignancourt – Porte d’Orleans), and Rennes and Notre-Dame des Champs on Line 12 (Porte de la Chapelle – Mairie d’Issy). All these stations can be linked to the main airport – Roissy Charles de Gaulle, by RER line.
Accommodation
Most Paris hotels offer discounts (Promotions) from 1st July onwards and bargains can be obtained by booking closer to the date and on-line. There are many hotels in walking distance of the Congress, principally in Boulevard Raspail. Their present rates are in the region of €120 (single or double) plus approx. €9 per head for breakfast. Discounts can be negotiated for July. We give below a short list of hotels but there are many to choose from on-line.

NOTE Because of the ease of access by metro the College recommends staying a little further from the centre, beyond Montparnasse in the area around the Eiffel Tower/ Champs de Mars for example or near to the Gare du Nord. It will only take a maximum of half an hour to reach the Congress from central hotels.
Catering
A lunch will be provided at the College on Saturday (Please advise if you have special dietary requirements (eg vegetarian). Coffee tea and water will be available at the coffee breaks morning and afternoon. The Congress dinner will be held at a famous Paris landmark brasserie La Coupole, 112 Boulevard Montparnasse at on the first evening Friday 3rd July. This is easily reached on foot from the congress venue or by travelling to Vavin metro station (across the road from the restaurant). Again please advise any special requirements.
