Homeshare is a simple but brilliant concept. It is the exchange of services : housing for help in the home.
Supported by a homeshare programme coordinator, a householder offers free or low-cost accommodation in their home to another person in exchange for an agreed level of support.
“I firmly believe that collaboration and communication with other providers on an international scale as well as domestic, is extremely important for informing and guiding our practice.”
~ Emma Kiss, Manager, St. John’s Homeshare
Membership of the Homeshare International Network is open to homeshare programmes, national networks and to organisations and individuals who support the homeshare concept.
There are two main levels of membership:
- Core Members are Homeshare programmes and networks which come together to engage with other Homeshare organisations around the world.
- Homeshare programmes of any size and stage of development (new or established, local/regional or national) that provide homeshare matching services may apply to join the Network.
- Homeshare networks are umbrella organisations that represent / support local homeshare providers, assist new programmes to develop, and advocate for homeshare.
- Associate Members are individuals or organizations that support the concept of homeshare as a service model and contribute to the awareness and education about the nature of Homeshare and its benefits, but do not offer a homeshare matching service themselves.
Read the Network page to learn about benefits of membership.
The 2024 annual membership fee is £68 (Sterling) for Core Members and £ 45 for Associate Members.
