Celebrate!
The 7th World Homeshare Congress was hosted by Associazione A.M.A.- project VIVO.CON in Trento, Italy on the weekend of September 5 – 7, 2024.
The Congress began on the afternoon of Thursday, September 5. A Welcome Dinner / Birthday Party was held on Thursday evening celebrating HI’s 25th anniversary and VIVO.CON’s 15 years of service to the people of Trento. Congress sessions continued through to the afternoon of September 7th.
Homeshare Congresses unite Homeshare practitioners and researchers from around the world. Enthusiasts from Australia, Canada, Ireland, Europe, the UK and the US (and, of course, Italy) came together with a shared purpose under one roof.
The 2024 Congress sessions were in both Italian and English. The program had the traditional plenary sessions, panel discussions and workshops and incorporated three new features:
- A Pre-Congress session of HI in Conversation. This is the first time that members of the HI Network met together in-person to discuss issues faced by Homeshare practitioners and we are very excited about it. Learn more.
- The Storytelling Lab: Trento University researchers engaged participants in 15-minute interviews, capturing the essence of their homeshare experiences. These anecdotes will become part of a rich archive resource for all attendees to use in championing Homeshare in the future.
- Leave Your Mark! is an inclusive initiative inviting submissions of videos, documents, and other resources curated by Giuliana Costa, Associate Professor in Sociology, (Politecnico di Milano, Department of Architecture and Urban Studies), cohabitation projects specialist and Scientific Director of Rete Nazionale Coabitare Solidale.
